Return of the Macro

An hour to spare and the house to myself, so out came the Sigma 105mm, tripod and dinosaur of a flashgun connected to a remote cable. I had been looking at a little wooden Buddha I've owned for many years and which spent a long time being exposed to the elements in the garden as a result of being pushed around in a doll's buggy by my youngest. Poor old Buddha stood the test of this abuse and actually looks quite well, all things considered.

I was interested in seeing if I could capture the grain on this little wooden statue. After a bit of playing about I ended up with a table lamp on one side for constant light and a bounced flash on the other side to fill in the shadows and still preserve some detail. Pretty pleased with the results overall.
