367-50 Week 11

After the extreme fun and games that was week ten's movie theme, I'm back to basics this week, trying to find shots in all sorts of strange places.

Cunningly titled "Nanook of the Veggie Freezer" this poor little guy is likely to go very hungry. Unless Quorn launch a new range of products aimed at the Inuit like Quorn Seal Meat. This was taken after returning home with some "landscape shots" taken beside a river in the Glens of Antrim whilst out and about with work this morning. I managed to make the river look both dull and ugly. In a state of panic I grabbed my macro gear, a Lego eskimo and opened the fridge.

This a gritty wee portrait of my aiki training partner Dave. I've been going to the same Aikido club for something like 13 years now. Dave and I have been teaching a kids' class on Tuesday nights for just over a year now. Sometimes we have one student, tonight we had seven. A good class and some of the kids are great to work with. Dave's not bad to work with either, I just turned up and told him he was my photo of the day. He didn't even complain.

Emergency ward on Wednesday evening. Ellen broke three bones in her toe a couple if weeks ago and not to be outdone, Sarah then fell in school during a PE lesson and fractured her arm. It's great fun trying to get two of them in and out of the car. They're pretty good patients to be honest.

Bought a Macbook Pro today. Those of you with Macs will know that it sets itself up right out of the box. My bluetooth mouse, on the other hand came with two sheets of "important information" which measured roughly 2m square each. Trish kindly helped out by drawing a mouse hole for the mouse, in return I helped set up her new laptop - which took several hours as opposed to the 15 minutes for the Macbook. I'm not converted just yet, but I'm on the road. Going to get some advice from my favourite Mac Head this weekend (that's you, Mark) and see if I can make a full switch from PC to Mac by Monday.

As a few people know, my morning routine consists of getting up early and standing at the back door drinking tea and having a smoke. The odd morning provides spectacular sunrises and this morning's wasn't half bad at all. Luckily my camera was in the kitchen and it was just a matter of pointing it at the trees and hoping they would come out sharp.

Sunday. Got up at 7am to go and take some nice dawn shots. Scrabo Tower, perhaps? It was chucking it down and very cold. I went back to bed. 9am up and ready to go for my "couch to 10K" session. It was raining even harder, if such a thing was possible. I went back to bed. Again. 10am up and drinking coffee. Shit loads of work done around the house until lunch, even more after. 3pm it was still raining, so I scammed a waterproof coat and did my training session anyway. Just over an hour in the rain, but the old body held up well. Week 4 of the programme, run 1 - run 2 mins and walk 3 mins 11 times. This was me when I got home. The sweaty under-arms are for real and the colour in my face has not been enhanced in any way.
