367-50 Week 7

Happy New Year to my readers. Both of you.
Been a wee bit light on the taking shots business this week but have made up for this by drinking and eating too much. Boxing day offered a chance to road test the new Nikon 24-70 f2.8 lens and we headed off to Civil Service Rugby club to watch the Boxing Day action. The new lens was awesome - fast, silent focusing and really sharp images even in pretty poor light. Nice depth of field going on with it as well.

Fish pedicures seem to betaking off and my littlest monkey and photography apprentice was dead set on spending some of her Xmas money on one of these. Not sure I fancy it but her feet were very soft afterwards!

One of my other xmas prezzies was  a macro ring flash and I started playing about with this. It's basically a ring-shaped LED array which is very bright but gives a nice light. Here's a wee lego man, obviously delighted at passing his exams.

Took a wee dander round Dundonald. I wanted to have a look at the old building I've seen hundreds of times near the Moat. I climbed the Moat and discovered that the building was a mausoleum within the adjoining church and graveyard. I also began playing with some new software - Nik Silver Effect for black and white conversions.

Wee men, fake dog turd, macro lens and ring flash. What else could a man want?

Saw this little scarecrow toy lying outside an empty, run down house in Sandhill Gardens, East Belfast and couldn't resist taking a shot with my iphone.

And today - I have to admit that I didn't surface from bed until late afternoon due to the excessive amounts of alcohol consumed last night. Ray Milland in Lost Weekend, eat your heart out. I had to get a shot of the Xmas tree before Trish took the head staggers and disposed of it.

I've had great 2011 - got married to a wonderful woman, been to Italy, started taking more shots and keeping this blog project running. I'm looking forward to 2012 and whatever challenges it throws at me.
